bizarro_clark: (Sunlight caution)
When the sun went out, he didn't realize it at first. Imprisoned for months under the burning light of the sun, trapped on that dusty red planet with no other signs of life, he's spent his days just trying to stay out of the light. Hiding in caves and cursing the Kryptonian and Martian that exiled him here.

But after emerging from the cave of the day, he realized that it wasn't night at all. A huge shadow lay across the sun, the same shadow that eclipsed the sun back on Earth. Not that he knew that.

Seizing his chance, he flew as fast as he could towards Earth. And made it over halfway before the sun's rays burst forth again, hammering him with that burning radiation. All he could do was keep going, and eventually he crashed into the dark side of the planet.

He's spent the last few weeks building up his strength and making his way back to Smallville. Back to the meteor rocks that give him strength, that fill him with power.

And now he's come home.

The farm is nearly silent when he arrives. Sure, the cows are out mooing in the fields, and there are all the sounds of nature, but even when he listens with superhearing, he can't sense a single person - human or Kryptonian - anywhere on the property.

Well.

That suits him just fine.

The kryptonite stashes in the house have been moved since he absorbed Kent's memories, but they're still easy enough to find. And it doesn't take long at all before he's feeling like himself again, putting the clear meteor rocks back in their lead boxes. Let them have a surprise or two the next time they need to use them. Heh.

When he catches sight of the calendar, he's surprised to feel a kind of happiness at seeing the date. Christmas. And no one here to share it with me. It is a bit odd - Christmas, but no decorations? According to Kent's memories, this place should be decked out with lights and garlands and a tree. And there should definitely be presents. But the house feels more like a mausoleum than a festive home.

Where the hell is everyone?

After an evening of walking around in Kent's skin, saving his friends from an elevator bomb and even risking a flyby of April's apartment, he's forced to come to the conclusion that Kent is gone, somehow. No one else seems to know where he is. And even his girlfriend is missing, though it looks like she might be holding out hope for his return. The place still looks lived-in, after all.

Well. If Kent doesn't want this life anymore, he's happy to take over.
